Education
Education is the process of facilitating learning, or the acquisition of knowledge, skills, values, beliefs, and habits. Educational methods include storytelling, discussion, teaching, training, and directed research. Education frequently takes place under the guidance of educators, but learners may also educate themselves. Education can take place in formal or informal settings and any experience that has a formative effect on the way one thinks, feels, or acts may be considered educational. The methodology of teaching is called pedagogy.
Medical Education
Medical education is education related to the practice of being a medical practitioner; either the initial training to become a physician (i.e., medical school and internship), or additional training thereafter (e.g., residency, fellowship and continuing medical education).
Education
Impartially their talents scan,
Just education forms the man.
John Gay, The Owl, Swan, Cock, Spider, Ass, and the Farmer. To a Mother, line 9.
Education
Man must develop his tendency towards the good.
Immanuel Kant, Thoughts on Education, #12
Education
For rigorous teachers seized my youth,
And purged its faith, and trimm’d its fire,
Show’d me the high white star of Truth,
There bade me gaze, and there aspire.
Matthew Arnold, Stanzas from the Grande Chartreuse (1855), st. 12
The growth of blue-green algae in our lakes, large ponds, water reservoirs and public waters constitutes a problem for our environment and for our health. These types of algae often result in a deterioration of the water quality and emit a distinctly unpleasant odour. The algae consume a lot of oxygen in the water, leaving little for other animals like fish. They also produce toxins which can cause skin irritations and are suspected to be involved in the occurrence of liver cancer.
